My job title changed to "Data Solutions Development Manager". Contact: David Goh, Software Architect, Quintiles HRS Data Solutions ph: 0410 574 846 email: david@goh.id.au (that's right, I headhunted him when I needed someone at this job!) I took a 6 month secondment to Quintiles Strategic Research Services, the global group which has taken Quintiles HRS under its wing. I was working out of the Parsippany, New Jersey office in the USA as a Senior Analyst. The role involved supporting the rollout of the GoCRF software (mentioned below) which I was instrumental in designing and building, as well as training and integration work to make GoCRF fit in to the US systems. FastMail.FM 2004 - I'm currently working as a Programmer/Sysadmin for FastMail.FM, an email provider of web based email and file storage with virus scanning and sophisticated filtering. Major Projects: --------------- User tracking system: Using Samba, Netatalk and POP3 logins, a set of perl scripts and modules keep track of which user is logged on at each IP address (including room and lab machines) on the Jane Franklin Hall network, allowing custom web pages to be produced as well as charging for internet bandwidth and printing based on who is on the machine. Uses perl, mysql, samba, netatalk. Online lawyer database: Web based database of over 200 lawyers in Victoria developed in PHP3 which allows searches by name, date range for when admitted to the bar, mediator accreditation and areas of expertise. Allows editing by users who have an administrator password (HTTP basic auth). Uses php3, mysql and apache ( no longer active ) Newsbet.com: Apache mod_perl and Text::Template based front-end to Sybase database. My component was developing News_Bet::Templator, the Text::Template engine, complete with Cookie based authentication tickets and hidden-field state memorisation across the automatic login procedure. Also developed all the HTML templates used on the site. Webshop Engine: XSLT based database backend for an E-commerce solution with multilingual support and interfaces to payment gateways and a range of different database engines on various platforms. GoCRF: GoCRF is the title of the data management software suite developed in-house at Quintiles HRS, based mainly on my experience writing customised tools for various clinical data handling projects. GoCRF provides a complete data management solution to clients which includes capture of clinical data from Web, PC, Palm and/or Mobile Phone sources as well as traditional paper. The GoCRF Suite also provides advanced validation and query management tools, double data entry, paper tracking from reception through data entry to archive boxes, as well as site management, payment and knowledge sharing modules. All the modules talk to a common 'Datastore' which provides full audit trail history of every action, with DSA digital signatures for verifiability and accountability. Every action is timestamped. Technologies are mod_perl on Debian GNU/Linux with PostgreSQL and other databases as backends with XML used for data interchange and serialisation. I was lead developer and maintainer for GoCRF Version 2.0 (the previous production version) and Subject Matter Expert for the new development branch. Open Source projects (alphabetical order): CIPE module for Coyote Linux: built a CIPE module for the Coyote Linux (LRP based single disk router) complete with configuration files handling auto-restart and multiple VPN links over modem, ethernet or ADSL (used by QHRS for Melbourne/ Sydney VPN). Coldsync: added easier ability to use multiple palms, fixed some memory leaks and submitted separate (targetted) patches back to the developers. Crypt::DSA: added ASN.1 support for Public Keys to this module for GoCRF system. Public keys are inter-operable with OpenSSL (submitted to maintainer). Net::VNC: Perl interface to ORL's Virtual Network Computing remote frame-buffer protocol (still on the drawing board - but should allow users to write remote-control applications for various operating systems). Squirrelmail: developer (currently inactive) for this PHP based webmail application. Worked on fixing IMAP library to use better command sequence numbers and various security fixes and HTML compliance issues. Also helped admin mailing lists. Text::Template: fixed a nasty memory leak bug when using thousands of templates under mod_perl (submitted to maintainer). XML::Generator: contributor XML::PrettyPrint: alpha release of a tidier for XML documents. XML::XSLT: was one of the project admins on Sourceforge and CPAN submitter of builds when I was working with XSLT.
